Chart assumes flat difficulty and flat BTC price. Reality: difficulty typically increases ~5–10% per month during bull runs, reducing profitability over time. The “Conservative” scenario below factors this in.

Methodology

How the Calculator Works

01
Hashrate Input

Your miner’s hashrate in Th/s (terahashes per second) determines your share of the Bitcoin network’s total hashing power. Higher hashrate = more blocks found per day.

02
🌐
Network Share

We calculate your share: (Your Th/s ÷ Network EH/s × 1,000,000). This fraction multiplied by daily blocks × 3.125 BTC = your expected daily BTC earnings.

03
💸
Cost Deductions

Daily electricity cost = (Watts ÷ 1000) × 24 × $/kWh. Pool fee deducted as a percentage of gross revenue. Net profit = Revenue − Electricity − Pool Fee.

04
📈
ROI Projection

ROI = Hardware Cost ÷ Daily Net Profit. The chart plots cumulative profit over 12–36 months, with optional difficulty escalation for conservative forecasting.

Core Formula
Daily BTC = (Hashrate Th/s × 86,400) ÷ (Network EH/s × 10⁶ × 600) × 3.125 BTC
Daily Net Profit = (Daily BTC × BTC Price) (Watts ÷ 1000 × 24 × $/kWh) Pool Fee % Network EH/s = 762 (current) · Block reward = 3.125 BTC (post-halving) · 600 seconds = 10 min target block time
FAQ

Calculator FAQ

How accurate is this calculator?
+
The calculator uses current Bitcoin network difficulty (109.78T), current network hashrate (762 EH/s), and the post-halving 3.125 BTC block reward. Results are accurate for current conditions but cannot predict future difficulty adjustments or BTC price changes. Treat all projections as estimates.
Why does difficulty matter so much?
+
Bitcoin’s mining difficulty adjusts every 2,016 blocks (~2 weeks) to maintain the 10-minute block target. As more miners join the network, difficulty rises — meaning each miner earns less BTC per day at the same hashrate. Our “Conservative” scenario in the forecast section projects +5%/month difficulty increase.
What electricity rate should I use?
+
US residential electricity averages $0.12–0.16/kWh. Industrial mining typically negotiates $0.04–0.08/kWh. For a fair profitability assessment, use your actual utility rate. US mining regions with cheapest power: Texas (~$0.04–0.06), Wyoming (~$0.06), Kentucky (~$0.07).
What is FPPS vs PPLNS?
+
FPPS (Full Pay Per Share) gives you stable daily income regardless of pool luck — typically 2.5% fee. PPLNS (Pay Per Last N Shares) has 0% fee but your earnings vary based on whether the pool finds blocks. For most small operations, FPPS’s predictability is worth the 2.5% premium.
Should I include hardware depreciation?
+
For accurate ROI calculation, yes. Enter your hardware purchase price in the “Hardware Cost” field. The ROI figure then shows how many days of net profit it takes to recoup your investment. Most operators amortize hardware over 2–3 years, factoring in residual resale value.
What is the current Bitcoin block reward?
+
Since the April 2024 halving, the block reward is 3.125 BTC per block. The next halving will occur around 2028, reducing it to 1.5625 BTC. The calculator uses 3.125 BTC for all calculations — update this field manually if you wish to model post-2028 conditions.
Why is my S9 showing a negative ROI?
+
The Antminer S9 (100 J/T efficiency) is highly unprofitable at most electricity rates above $0.04/kWh. At current difficulty, the S9 generates insufficient revenue to cover its electricity cost. It’s only viable in regions with very cheap power ($0.02–0.04/kWh) or as an educational/entry device.
Does pool luck affect my earnings?
+
With FPPS mode, pool luck doesn’t affect you — you’re paid a fixed rate per share regardless. With PPLNS, your earnings fluctuate based on how often the pool finds blocks. AntPool consistently runs 95–105% luck, meaning PPLNS miners see minimal variance over monthly timeframes.
Are Hydro-cooled miners more profitable?
+
Not always. Hydro-cooled miners (S21 XP Hyd, S21 Hyd) achieve better efficiency (12–16 J/T) versus air-cooled (17.5–21.5 J/T), but require significant upfront infrastructure investment (cooling loops, water treatment). They’re most profitable in large-scale operations where infrastructure cost is amortized across many units.
