Antminer S17 (56TH/s) – Air-Cooled Bitcoin Miner
Antminer S17 (56TH/s) was Bitmain’s first 7nm flagship — the machine that moved the S-series into the modern efficiency era.
Antminer S17 Overview
The Antminer S17 is the S-series in its awkward adolescence. Built on BM1397 7nm silicon, it was faster than anything before it and simultaneously became the most debated Bitmain model for reliability. Consequently, operators who drew a good production batch paid the machine off twice; those who did not learned exactly why warranty coverage matters. Moreover, it established the efficiency trajectory that produced the S19 and S21.

⚠️ Buyer Considerations
- ~45 J/TH against 17.5 J/TH on an Antminer S21. At European or Australian tariffs this machine does not clear its power cost.
- ~82 dB is the loudest class in the catalog — industrial siting only.
- The 17 series has a documented history of hashboard failures; buy spares if deploying at scale.
- For “S-class but affordable” today, compare the Antminer S19 XP (140Th) at ~21.5 J/TH.
